How to set up voice control with Google Home

Make sure you've set up your Hub, added your blinds or curtains and customised your scenarios or ambiances. Also make sure you've set up your Google device and downloaded and logged in to the Google Home app.

A

In your Google Home app home screen tap the plus symbol (+) in the top left corner.

Tap the Set up device option and then select the Have something already set up? option towards the bottom of the screen.

Tap the search icon and type Somfy in the search bar and then tap the Somfy Asia & Oceania option.

Sign in using your Somfy login and check the box Memorize my log in details.

Tap YES to authorise Google Home to access your Somfy account and connect to your Hub. Once it's connected you will see your blinds and curtains on the Google Home app home screen.

In your Google Home app home screen tap your blind or curtain.

Tap the Room option and then select the room name you want to use from the list e.g. Living room. The room you choose will display a tick symbol next to it.

Tap SAVE in the top right corner and then tap the cross symbol (x) in the top left corner of your screen to return to the app home screen.

Repeat step 3 to keep adding your blinds and curtains to your rooms, until you're done.

You're all done adding your blinds and curtains to your rooms! Now if you say a command e.g. Ok Google open living room blinds all the blinds you chose to assign to the living room will open.

Renaming your blinds and curtains is optional and can make it easier to open and close them with voice control. If you don't want to rename them, no problem! You're good to start using voice control to open and close your blinds and curtains. Just say Ok Google then say open <blind name> or close <blind name>.

In your Google Home app home screen tap your blind or curtain.

Tap the Name option and then type in the new name for your blind or curtain e.g. master bedroom curtain.

Tap SAVE in the top right corner and then tap the cross symbol (x) in the top left corner of your screen to return to the app home screen.

Repeat step 4 to keep renaming your blinds and curtains.

You're all done renaming your blinds and curtains! Now if you say a voice command e.g. Ok Google close master bedroom curtain your curtain will close.

In your Google Home app home screen tap the my account icon (circle) in the top right corner.

Tap the Assistant settings option and then tap the tab called Assistant. Scroll down and tap the Home control option in the list.

Tap the tab called Scenes and then select the scenario or ambiance you want to rename e.g. Window_RTS - Ambiances - Movie time.

If you have multiple Somfy user profiles in your Hub app the list of scenes will include scenarios and ambiances that belong to all users.

In the Google Home app tap the pencil icon next to the words Set a nickname. Type the name you want to use in the Nickname field e.g. family movie time and then tap OK.

Tap the back arrow in the top left corner. You can rename as many scenarios and ambiances as you like by following steps 5 and 6.

You're all done renaming your scenarios and ambiances! Now if you say a voice command e.g. Ok Google activate family movie time your Connexoon scenario will launch and your blinds or curtains will respond according to how you set up the scenario in your Connexoon app.

Tap the Home option to assign your blinds and curtains to your home. You can add a new home if you need to.

Tap Next in the bottom right corner and then tap Move device in the bottom right corner.

Tap to select the room name you want to use from the list e.g. Living room. The room you choose will display a tick symbol next to it. Repeat step 3 until you've added all your blinds and curtains to a room. Tap DONE to finish setting up your rooms.

You're all done adding your blinds or curtains to your rooms! Now if you say a command e.g. Ok Google open living room all the blinds you chose to assign to the living room will open.

On your phone download the IFTTT app using the App Store or Google Play.

On your phone open the IFTTT app and sign up to create an account.

In the IFTTT app home screen tap Get more then type Connexoon in the search bar.

Tap the Connexoon Asia & Oceania option and then tap the Connect button.

In the IFTTT app sign in using your Somfy Connexoon Window RTS login.

Tap YES to authorise IFTTT to access your Somfy account and connect to your Hub. Tap the back arrow to return to the search screen in IFTTT.

In the IFTTT app search screen type Google assistant in the search bar and tap the Google Assistant option.

If you have already connected Google Assistant to IFTTT, skip to step 4.

Tap the Connect button.

Can’t connect to Google Assistant? If you can't see a Connect button, head to I need some extra help at the bottom of this page.

In the IFTTT app sign in using your Google login.

Tap Allow to authorise IFTTT to access your Google account. Tap the back arrow to return to the search screen in IFTTT.

Set up your first Google Assistant voice command in IFTTT, so you can use voice control to open or close your blinds and curtains based on a scenario or ambiance you've set up in your Hub.

In the IFTTT app search screen type Connexoon in the search bar.

Tap the Connexoon Asia & Oceania option. Scroll down to the applet called Ask Google Assistant to launch your Connexoon scenario and tap it.

Tap Connect using the slider button.

Type in the words you want to launch the scenario using only lower case letters (no capitals) e.g. start sun protection mode. Don't worry about typing Ok Google as it's added automatically to the start of your voice command.

You can optionally type two extra phrases you want to launch the scenario. You can also type the words you want Google Assistant to say in response e.g. Ok starting sun protection mode.

Choose your scenario from the drop down list e.g. Window_RTS - mode: Sun protection, then at the bottom tap Save.

The slider button on your applet will now show as Connected.

You're all done setting up your first voice command! Now when you say your command e.g. Ok Google start sun protection mode your blinds and curtains will respond (e.g. close) according to your scenario in your Hub.

Set up new Google Assistant voice commands by creating new applets in IFTTT so you can control your blinds and curtains with your voice.

In the IFTTT app home screen tap Create. Tap the plus symbol (+) next to the word This. Type the words Google assistant in the search bar and tap the Google Assistant option.

Scroll down the list of Google triggers and tap the option Say a simple phrase.

Type in the words you want to launch the scenario using only lower case letters (no capitals) e.g. start privacy mode. Don't worry about typing Ok Google as it's added automatically to the start of your voice command.

You can optionally type two extra phrases you want to launch the scenario. You can also type the words you want Google Assistant to say in response e.g. Ok starting privacy mode.

Tap the Create trigger button.

In the IFTTT app tap the plus symbol (+) next to the word That.

Type Connexoon in the search bar and then tap the Connexoon Asia & Oceania option. Tap the button Launch a Connexoon scenario.

Choose your scenario from the drop down list e.g. Window_RTS - mode: Privacy then at the bottom tap Create action.

Tap Finish to save your new voice command.

You're all done setting up your new voice command! Now when you say your command e.g. Ok Google start privacy mode your blinds will respond (e.g. close) according to how you customised the scenario in your Hub.

Create as many new voice commands as you like using steps 6 and 7. Remember you can also search Google assistant in IFTTT to find existing applets and set them up, the same way you set up your first voice command (steps 4 and 5).
