How can I motorise my blinds and curtains?

There are several options when it comes to how you motorise your window coverings. Your style of home and your lifestyle needs will help you decide what’s right for you.

Remote only - Motorised Roller Blinds and curtains don’t need a home automation system to work. Somfy has a range of 200m within a line of sight, and can also work through plaster walls in the home, Somfy’s technology will allow you to operate your remote control roller blinds and curtains with no internet or wi-fi connection.

Wi-fi Hub - DIY Blinds offers two wi-fi hubs that when purchased with your window coverings will allow you to control your blinds and curtains remotely. Wi-fi blinds also allow for voice activation and means you can schedule set times for your blinds and curtains to open and close. The two options are:

1. Bond Bridge - works with Alexa or Google Home and SmartThings to control motorised products such as blinds, curtains, ceiling fans and fireplaces, all via the same mobile app.
2. Somfy Connexoon - works with Alexa or Google Home. The Somfy motors use the app to control your motorised curtains and blinds remotely via the internet or on a set schedule.

When you make a purchase with DIY Blinds, our roller blinds and curtains can be custom-made with motorisation.

While we can’t retrofit motorisation to your existing curtains, we can retrofit motorisation to your existing Single, Double or Linked Roller Blinds.
